Level 2 Certification Students Take Over iBwave HQ

There were some new faces walking the halls of iBwave headquarters in late August as our Training and Certification team hosted a Level 2 Certification session in the office: an iBwave first! RF Professionals from some of Canada’s tier-1 wireless operators, came to continue their in-building design education and specifically learn about iBwave Design’s modules: Propagation, Optimization and Collection.

Peter Thalmeir, Director of Training and Certification flew in from his home base in southern Germany to teach the three day class.

The students had a chance to meet a few key players behind the scenes at iBwave during lunch time. These included team members from Customer Care, Product Management and Software Development. And thanks to the beautiful weather, everyone enjoyed their lunch breaks at picnic tables outside, creating a comfortable and laid back atmosphere.

Here are a few photos from lunch time on day 1:

Roadtrip to Beantown

After the great success of the NYC DAS & Small Cell Forum Kick-off party in June, we were excited to hear that a similar event was being held in Boston on August 29. So excited that five people from iBwave decided to attend, three of which are based in Montreal. Three iBwavers traveling to Boston together… naturally, that spells “road trip”. So Mario Bouchard, President and CEO; Nathalie Robitaille, Vice-President of Marketing and Marc-Antoine Lamontagne, Product Manager got some snacks together, made a few road worthy playlists and brushed up on their car games for their drive.

The team stopped in Manchester along the way.

The famous Arrow Diner beckoned them for a greasy spoon breakfast and was followed by a short but productive meeting with Cellular Specialties Inc. (CSI).

The Boston DAS & Small Cell Social was held on the rooftop of Jerry Remy’s overlooking Boston’s historic Fenway Park and was another successful event by Ezra Hug. Mini-burgers and pints of beer made for a laid back ambiance – all the better for good networking.

Update! The Northeast DAS & Small Cell Forum’s photographer made a video slideshow of some additional photos from the event. Here it is:

Hup iBwave Hup! Highlights from our Seminar in the Amsterdam Arena

iBwave hosted an in-building seminar focused on stadium design today in Amsterdam. And what better place to host a seminar on stadiums than in the colossal Amsterdam Arena! We were set up in the arena’s Panorama Lounge, an exclusive box featuring a 180 degree view of the stadium, where we received 35 of our industry peers for the day.

The day kicked off with breakfast followed by a Welcome Address by Robert Froger, Sales Manager Europe at iBwave. Dominique Gauthier, iBwave’s CTO then presented Global Trends in the In-Building Industry and was followed by Jalal Berrahou, Team Lead in the Sales Engineering team and his presentation on Indoor Coverage & Capacity Challenges in Stadiums. After a short break, Dominique took the stage again to demonstrate how to gain control of the in-building coverage lifecycle using the iBwave product suite. Jalal followed with an iBwave product suite demo.

After a delicious lunch of various pastas and salads, the whole group participated in the iBwave Mobile and iBwave Unity Cloud workshop. Everyone was encouraged to get into small teams and then, using the floor plan of the venue on the iBwave Mobile app, determine the best placement for two antennas in order ensure optimal coverage in the meeting room and surrounding hallways. The teams certainly got creative by the looks of the photos and the workshop generated a great discussion on iBwave Mobile, iBwave Unity Cloud and stadium design which was the best way to conclude the event.

Congratulations to the KPN team for getting the best coverage during the iBwave Mobile workshop and congratulations to Radu from Claritech and Grzegorz Czarnecki from Ericsson NL for winning a free seat at our upcoming Certification Level 1 in Amsterdam (September 4-6).Thanks to all who attended!
